The Zinoviev-Yusupov chambers

The Zinoviev-Yusupov chambers are the oldest secular structure in the Arbat area, and the only large stone chambers north of Prechistenka.

The first mention of the building that houses these chambers came from the steward Peter Zinoviev, and dates back to 1685. As a dowry to his daughter, the house passed into the possession of the Yusupov family. At the end of the 18th century, the house passed into the possession of Count Andrei Ivanovich Tolstoy, the great-grandfather of Leo Nikolaevich Tolstoy.

At the end of the 20th century, the historic chambers were dilapidated. Scientific restoration of the building was carried out from 2010 to 2012. The vaulted rooms of the first floor and the front suite of the second were restored, and the house began a new life with its original appearance.

Since 2015, the building has housed the Museum of the International Numismatic Club, where every visitor can get to see the interiors of this architectural monument, learn the history of the chambers, and hear interesting facts about the lives of its past owners.
